Astrological view of earthquake predictions in the Himalayas

In the recent past Himalayan regions have been frequently rocked by earthquakes, giving rise to a fear of a major mishap happening in the near future. The apprehension becomes more justified when read with the scientific warning in an article “Massive earthquake may hit Himalayas” published in The Tribune of Chandigarh, India on 31St December, 2012.
Briefly speaking, the warning is the result of a discovery by a research team led by Nanyang Technological University of Singapore that powerful earthquakes in the range of 8 to 8.5 magnitudes on the Richter Scale have left clear ground scars in the central Himalayas. The discovered fact has been essentially studied by the scientists in the light of theory that existence of devastating quakes in the past means earthquakes of the same magnitude could happen again in the same regions in the future.
There is another branch of knowledge, namely astrology which can also be applied to assess the scientific warning. For the purpose of using astrology, the earthquake phenomenon must be explained. The tremors come from some activity within the crest of the Earth. This can also be explained by saying that the activity giving rise to the earthquake is in the unseen domain. Thus, Saturn representing black colour and Rahu-Ketu, the nodes of the Moon, known in astrology as shadow planets, come into reckoning. The upper crest of the Earth visible to the senses is also involved because earthquake means fracturing of the surface of the Earth as well. In this light, Mars also comes into picture. Therefore , the planets required to be looked at are Saturn, Rahu-Ketu and Mars.
The previously mentioned scientific study has pointed to a possibility of an occurrence of earthquake in the Himalayan region of India. In the horoscope for independence of India (15 August , 1947), the ruling sign is Taurus. The lunar year 2013-14 commences on the 10th of April, 2013 at 15 hours 10 minutes, Indian Standard Time, which gives Leo of sidereal zodiac as ascendant for Delhi. Thus, Leo is the ruling sign for the lunar year 2013 – 14, which falls in the 4th house reckoned from the ascendant of the horoscope for India’s independence referred above.
The planets relating to earthquake mentioned above are Saturn, Rahu – Ketu and Mars. The surface crest of the Earth visible to the eyes is ruled by signs Aries and Scorpio owned by Mars. These martian signs are in detriment to the ruling sign Taurus in the horoscope of India’s independence. Planets which could cause earthquake, namely, Saturn and Rahu – Ketu, are in signs Aries and Libra of the sidereal zodiac during the lunar year 2013 – 14.
It is a common knowledge that the area of influence of Saturn extends to signs previous and next as well to the sign it is occupying for the time being. Applying this, sign Scorpio relating to the upper crest of the Earth, is also afflicted. The other sign Aries is afflicted by Ketu plus the aspect of Saturn. Mars passes through Aries and Taurus during months of May and June 2013, when Saturn would be in retrograde motion affecting the earth closely. Leo, the lunar year ruling sign for the lunar year 2013 – 14, would be working in unison with Aries, being in trine. Thus, months of May and June, 2013 appear to be of particular concern in relation to possibilities of tremors of the magnitude and nature apprehended by the team of scientists of Singapore University.
The lunar year 2013 – 14 ruling sign Leo mentioned earlier, is in the 4th house reckoned from the ascendant Taurus of horoscope for India’s independence. Thus 4th, 8th and 12th houses from the Taurus ruling sign are in the reckoning suggesting North direction. The signs involved mostly relate to forest and hills. The suggestion therefore is that the northern part of the Indian Himalayan region could be afflicted by adverse planetary influence. All this seems to be confirming the scientific findings which are very broad as regards to the specific areas of Himalayas likely to be affected. In the alternative, the planetary suggestion could also mean aggression by enemy or unprecedented summer heat.
It may be mentioned here that there is no need to be panicky as the estimate is only suggestive, not a certainty.

The theory of earthquake has been explained in simple language. The point to be noted is that Jupiter will be in 10th ( Taurus),in the strongest Kendra ( Quadrant)of Leo, the ascendant for India at the time of beginning of New lunar year on 10.04.2013, which will be very favorable for India. This will help India to avoid major problem during this year.
I don’t believe in these things and your predictions are not true
As the ascendant is in border, the analysis becomes tougher for any astrologer.
N. Sundara Rajan gives a list of four conditions that indicate the possibility of there being an earthquake somewhere on Earth on a certain date (http://www.vincityastrotemple.com/default.asp#). However, his method, even if it were accurate as regards the time, something I haven’t verified, can’t show the location, which makes it useless because no one is willing to evacuate millions of people in many earthquake-prone places all over the Earth on the same day. The only item on a horoscope that I know of that could hint at the place would seem to be an afflicted ascendant, but it would, I think, give only the longitude, unless the ascendant changes along the same meridian as one moves to the north or to the south. Being able to know the longitude would be a big improvement. The missing datum would be something that can indicate the latitute. Is there any such feature in a horoscope?
Astrology will be recognized as a true science only if it manages to develop an accurate method for predicting catastrophes. I think this will happen eventually because I’ve confirmed something that Max Heindel claimed in THE MESSAGE OF THE STARS: that there are three points on the Zodiac that, when afflicted, warn about the risk of going blind. It’s enough to make one think that astrology was a supernatural revelation.
This prediction is so accurate. The Uttarakhand flash flood and landslides happened in June 2013 and it is the northern part of India. Vedic astrology can help to know the occurrence of natural disaster.
