The planet Venus is known as the planet of love, and she can show your romantic side. How you want to be wooed and how you woo others, and what you think romance is comes under her domain. You can see this through the sign, house placement, and aspects of your Venus. Some placements are more classically romantic than others, but it’s likely that none are more oblivious to romance than Venus in Virgo.
I happen to have my Venus in Virgo, and with it comes my love of practicality, my appreciation for structure and order, and my passion for cleanliness. I watch romantic-comedies and I don’t get them at all. I see public displays of affection and instead of thinking, awwww, I think, get a room! When I think of red roses, I think of allergies. Romantic gifts consist of new socks because I know the ones you have are getting old. And an expensive meal at a fancy restaurant with a string quartet just makes my head and wallet ache.
Virgo is an earth sign, and the earth signs are practical by nature. We think about the practical application of everything we do, the real-world impact of our actions and decisions. Virgo is the most practical of all, and with Venus in this sign, it makes for a very practical attitude towards romance.
We lack the enthusiasm and passion that the fire signs bring to romance. They think it should be fun, and they like to do things with flair. We lack the ability to come up with the sweet nothings that can be whispered in your ear that the air signs can think up. They know just the right words to say that will make you swoon. And we lack the emotion of the water signs, which usually makes them the most romantic because they can get in touch with their heart, and touch your heart too.
As for the other earth signs, Taurus is a fixed sign, and we all know about that famed Taurus sensuality. They get in touch with their physical body, and show you how to get in touch with yours. And while they’re not as fiery passionate as the fire signs can be, once they get burning, their fixed nature allows them to burn for a very long time. Capricorn is a cardinal sign, and they can take charge when it comes to romance. Sure, they love to focus on their careers, their goals, their ambitions, but once the goal becomes wooing you, they can bring some romance A-game. Being as traditional as they are, they tend to go with the classical definitions of romance, and will try to sweep you off of your feet.
Where Virgo differs is in its mutable quality, which makes us scattered and unfocused when it comes to romance. Even when we put in effort, it doesn’t last long, and we’re right back to our practical selves. Whereas Taurus and Capricorn prefer fine wine, roses, and chocolate, we prefer clean water, one of those plants that helps purify the air, and a salad.
For those of us with Venus in Virgo, we need people who appreciate our practicality. While we may not be traditional romantics, we’ll always make sure you have everything that you need, and pay attention to all of the little things you say and do. That may not seem like romance to most of you, but it does to us.

Great article! Thanks for adding the practical perspective!
I’m so sorry, but this is terrible! You’re writing about your own chart, not about Venus in Virgo in the charts of hundreds of clients. Because if you did, you’d find that you couldn’t be further from the truth. One potential of Venus in Virgo is the pursuit of the purity of romance, romantic love and partnership. High ideals lead to high potential for disappointment, yes. But un-romantic? In your chart maybe, but don’t pin that on all Venus in Virgos. As someone with Venus and 5 other planets there, I can attest to loving romantic comedies, having spent all my dating years hopelessly romantic, and in love with roses. I encourage you to test your theories on hundreds of charts before presenting them. And if you’ve done that already, sounds like you need to review your data again. In support and encouragement for improvement.
I too have Venus in Virgo in my astrological chart. Based on what I’ve read about the Venus in Virgo placement, we are the most un-romantic of all the the signs due to being so analytical, critical, and practical in the area of love and romance. Not to mention Venus being at its fall in Virgo as it is exalted in Pisces. Personally, speaking for myself, I’ve had a hard time understanding love and didn’t too much care for romance when I was much younger. The only love I had was for work and service, which I still have. But over the years, possibly thanks to my Ascendant in Pisces, four of my planets in Libra, and Mars in Scorpio, I consider myself very romantic. I know how to set the mood and make sure that special woman enjoys herself with me.
I consider this true. But it also depends on your ascendant. My ascendant is in Scorpio and my Mars is in Leo. I find myself very sexual to a sense. Also my moon in cancer adds so flavor too. The things in Virgo for me are three planetary objects and that’s my Sun, Mercury, and Venus. I am quite critical due to the aspect of my Mercury and Venus.
Just to clear something up for those who may have been offended by this article – it was written more than partially in jest. Astrology does not have to be 100% serious 100% of the time. Of course some people with Venus in Virgo are quite romantic; there are romantic and unromantic people of every Venus sign. Sometimes I like to write about the amplified energy of a position to help people learn more about only that position, since you can’t put anything together until you understand it separately. But there is no never except for immortality or always except for change. So while we’re all sitting around waiting for death and chaos, let’s not be so serious.
I have venus in virgo in the 12 th house. I can be practical but I can also very dreamy, it is strange. I also have moon taurus in the 8 th house. It is difficul to fall in love, but when this happens it is pretty intense and insane ( moon in opposition to pluto, moon square jupiter in the 5 th house ).
Venus is in fall in virgo.
Every planet attempts to express itself through each of the signs
,but in some signs like virgo, the planets are unable to express their respective
energies. This is due to every constellation consisting of both favorable and malefic
stars that comprise it, or that constitute it.
Unfortunately for those whose ascendant is in the sign of virgo, this can spell
horribly for their life condition. The malefic stars that make up virgo like persephone
deprive the native of the necessities in life, causing problems on the physical plane and conscious levels
as well as the mental, emotional, and spiritual planes and the subconscious.
The life plays out through the ascendant which is why most who have sun or moon in virgo
have a supportive life, while those have their ascendant in virgo have an unsupported life.
Unfortunately of the 12 , virgo is the worst ascendant with natives often having chronic depression stemming from the unfortunate problems that the sign relentlessly places on the native.
So to answer this, Venus cannot express itself
but minimally, in virgo where it is at fall.
Additionally Jupiter is in detriment in the sign of
virgo which is why those with virgo on the rising
have reported feeling no different than when Jupiter transited
their 12th house leo.
