Changes With Uranus

Uranus is one of the slow-moving planets, taking about seven years to go through one sign. Uranus is known as the planet of change, and the change will come whether you want it to or not. Change, death, taxes – the only constants in life!

When Uranus is transiting a house, the areas of life that house rules will be most impacted by change. Chances are, once Uranus leaves that house, you’ll look back on the previous years and realize a lot more changed than you thought. When one of the faster planets is going through the house at the same time, it’s more pronounced, especially Mars. Mars is the planet of energy, and the house he’s going through gets a surge of energy injected into it. Add Uranus to the mix, and the need for change is unavoidable.

When Uranus is aspecting one of your planets, what that planets rules naturally as well as in your chart undergoes change. When it’s a hard aspect (square, opposition), the change can be unsettling, the kind of change you don’t want or aren’t ready for, but it’s coming no matter what, so you’ve got to brace yourself. Or you desperately want change with the areas of life getting impacted, but nothing happens, and it makes you restless and bored beyond belief, and prone to doing something impulsively that doesn’t work out quite the way you want it to. When it’s a positive aspect (sextile, trine), it’s change that you embrace, that you want, that you initiate, or that you see as a good thing for your life. You welcome the change, feeling that you need to spice things up anyway. When you have a conjunction, it can go either way. Will it be good, or will it be bad? If other hard aspects are occurring at the same time, likely bad, and if other positive aspects are occurring at the same time, likely good, but you can try to make it work for you either way.

As humans, we want things to stay the same, and fear change, so the impact of Uranus is often viewed in a negative light. But Uranus wants you to change so you can gain a better perspective. Uranus wants you to change the way you look at the world.

The sign Uranus is going through has a general impact on the world, and we see change with the areas of life it rules. Currently, Uranus is in Aries, so we’ve seen people become more rebellious, believing that we should have the opportunity to have freedom and be ourselves and do what we want.

In your natal chart, Uranus represents the areas of life where you’ll likely experience the most change throughout your life. These are the areas where stability will probably be a hard concept to grasp, no matter how much you may want it. Instead of fighting it, roll with it. Know that these areas will always keep you on your toes, and that periodic change is something you need to accept. Better yet, make that periodic change on your own so Uranus doesn’t make it for you!
