Foggy Neptune

Neptune is a planet whose energy is hard to pin down. Neptune likes to keep us in a fog of illusion and delusion, sometimes of our own making. In prediction, Neptune has dissolving energy, and when you have Neptune making a hard aspect (square, opposition) to your chart, you will often see something “dissolve” related to the areas of life the planet naturally rules and rules in your chart. A friendship dissolves with 11th house impact, a love relationship dissolves with 5th house impact, a job dissolves with 6th house impact. It’s usually not a big boom and it’s over though. The impact is in a more subtle way, and whatever it is fades from your life.

Hard Neptune aspects can also make you out of touch with reality, and once it passes, you wonder what on Earth you were thinking or how you could be so blind. This is most apparent when Neptune conjuncts, squares, or opposes someone’s Sun, and reality is just not an option. But with the Sun, it can also be that other people aren’t seeing you as you really are, so you’re not the only one not in touch with reality. It’s also pretty obvious when Neptune is making a hard aspect to Venus, and people get involved with someone who is such a terrible person or so wrong for them, but they swear the person is their soul mate. Then it’s over, and the prince turns back into a toad. Positive Neptune aspects can increase your imagination and creativity, and open you up spiritually.

When Neptune is transiting a house, he can make it difficult for you to see the matters the house rules clearly. You’re a little delusional. You don’t want to see what’s really there, so you have to fight harder to make sure you do see reality. If Neptune is also making a hard aspect while in the house, that can amplify the impact and make you even more delusional. The illusions become reality, at least temporarily. You also have to watch out for being vulnerable to deception with the areas of life being impacted.

We can all be a little dreamy and out of touch with the areas of life that are ruled by the sign Neptune is traveling through. Currently, Neptune is in Pisces, which is the sign Neptune naturally rules, so we’re more at ease with this now. A little less delusional? Or not in tune with just how delusional we actually are?

In your natal chart, the house Neptune is in will show areas of life where you have to work harder to be realistic, and to get a good hold of. It might seem like things slip out of your grasp. It’s hard for you to focus on these areas of life, and you can be deceived and taken advantage of if you’re not careful. These are also areas where you have to learn to be more flexible with Neptune’s flowy energy. But you can bring some creativity to the areas, and allow your intuition to guide you.
