Me and My Galactic Center

You may have heard of something called the Galactic Center. It’s literally a black hole in our galaxy, and is what our solar system revolves around. It is a massive point of energy that is difficult to decode because of the massive energy it contains. The Galactic Center is currently at 27 degrees Sagittarius, and if you were born with a natal planet (especially Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) or important point conjunct, square, or opposite the Galactic Center, this is a strong energy point in your chart. Even if you have nothing conjunct, square, or opposite, the house location of the Galactic Center when you were born has some zing to it, and when it’s energized, the energy of that house is energized too.

I discovered the Galactic Center early in my astrology studies, and it stayed with me because I have my Sun-Moon midpoint conjunct the Galactic Center. One of the things I read about it was that it can make you a futuristic person, someone ahead of the trends, and that certainly was me growing up. Whatever I become interested in tends to be all the rage within about a year. Some say they feel that they’re a bit “alien” with a prominent GC and I always used to identify with the saying, in this world but not of this world. I always felt different, foreign, alien. Many identify the planet Uranus with the GC because of this, but there’s believed to be a spiritual, intuitive component as well, so I look at it as a hybrid of Uranus and Neptune.

Astrologer Shelley Ackerman wrote an interesting article about some of the people who have had major influence in the world had their Sun conjunct the Galactic Center. It’s energy that almost has to be used, or you’ll go nuts from the deafening noise and it’ll suck you into that black hole. Use it for good or evil? That’s up to you.

She also wrote about the influence of the Galactic Center on the world when aspected by transit planets. Saturn is actually going to conjunct the Galactic Center in 2017, with Chiron also square that year, and in May, Mars will also be opposite. When Mercury retrogrades in December 2017, it will begin the retrograde close to the GC, and the new moon in December will be conjunct as well. Black Moon Lilith will conjunct in October. There’s a lot of stimulation going on with the Galactic Center in 2017. When Saturn opposed the Galactic Center in the early 2000’s, the Iraq War began. Pluto was also involved though, opposite Saturn, and that won’t be the case this time.

The GC is activated to a lesser extent in 2016 as well, with Jupiter square in August, and Mercury turning retrograde at the end of August square the GC. Venus is square around the same time as Mercury, and Mars will conjunct in September, with the lunar eclipse in September square. What will the activations in 2016 and 2017 bring this time?
