The Astrology of Vengeance

Some of us are vengeful people. Some of us are not. I think we all know which camp we fall into, at least when we’re honest with ourselves in a quiet, dark room with a bowl of ice cream and murderous thoughts running through our heads. So what makes you a vengeful person from an astrological perspective? (Note: Before you read on, this was written in a humorous way. If you’re offended, do not kill me.)

Pluto, Scorpio, and the 8th house rule vengeance, so you want to see any or all of these in your chart. With Pluto, you’ll usually see it in the 1st house, which is the house of the self, and this will make the vengeful personality more obvious. People may be very frightened of you. With Pluto in the 3rd house, you make a lot of threats, but probably don’t follow through on any of them with action, so your bark is worse than your bite. Pluto in the 4th house can show being vengeful with family; in the 6th house, with coworkers; and in the 11th house, with friends. Pluto in the 12th house can show someone who doesn’t come across as vengeful, but is secretly planning where to bury those corpses in the basement. You can also see Pluto aspects involved, especially conjunct, square, or opposite the Sun or Moon. There’s a strong vengeful spirit inside of you then.

Scorpio can be seen with your planets, especially a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) in Scorpio. You can also see Scorpio on the house cusps, and that will play out similarly to Pluto in the houses. With the 8th house, you want to see planets in the house, especially personal planets or the ruler of the 1st house in the 8th house, or ruler of the 8th house in the 1st house.

The more you have of all of this in your chart, the more vengeful of a person you probably are. You get mad AND get even! It becomes triggered by transit planets aspecting the houses or natal planets involved, especially with hard aspects (conjunction, square, opposition) by Saturn, Uranus, or Pluto.

If you don’t have any of this in your chart, you’re probably breathing a sigh of relief to know that you’re not Little Miss Vengeful, but you’re not out of the woods yet. You can temporarily become a vengeful spirit through progressions, so if your progressed personal planets are in Scorpio, the progressed or natal 8th house, or make a hard aspect to natal or progressed Pluto, you can suddenly feel like you understand serial killers.

Hard aspects by transit Pluto can also temporarily infuse some vengeful energy. This will especially be the case if transit Pluto is also in the 1st or 8th house, if transit Uranus is in the 8th house, and when transit Mars goes through the 8th house while you experience the hard Pluto aspect. Don’t keep any weapons handy, or you’ll need a good lawyer. Or be really good at covering your tracks.
