The Happy Parts of Your Natal Chart

When you’re examining your natal chart, there are many parts of it to consider depending on what exactly you’re looking for. The happy parts of your chart, or the parts that are most beneficial, are your Venus and Jupiter, as well as your Part of Fortune and North Node.

Venus is the planet of love, and shows areas where you really enjoy or “love” something. It’s the pleasure planet, and we take pleasure in the areas she touches. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, sometimes called lucky because of it, and he can show areas where you’ll have the easiest time growing. He’s optimistic as well, and we try to look at the brighter side of the areas he touches. For both planets, you want to focus on the signs and houses they’re in, the houses they rule, and aspects they make. Even traditionally difficult aspects (namely the square and opposition) aren’t too bad with these planets involved.

The Part of Fortune is an important Arabic Part, which are calculated positions in your chart using three different planets or points. For the Part of Fortune, you add the positions of your Ascendant and Moon and subtract the position of the Sun if you have a day chart (your Sun in houses 7 – 12) or add the positions of your Ascendant and Sun and subtract the position of the Moon if you have a night chart (your Sun in houses 1 – 6).

Why is the Part of Fortune deemed important? It shows areas where you are most fortunate. If you want to make things work to your advantage and have success, play to your Part of Fortune, and it‘s especially helpful with your career. Look to sign and house placement, as well as any planets conjunct or opposite it.

Your North Node is one-half of the lunar nodes, where the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic. The South Node shows where you need to grow away from and your karmic baggage, while the North Node shows what you should grow towards and how you can be your best self. It can be difficult to try manifesting your North Node in your life and personality because it feels uncomfortable and unfamiliar, which is anxiety-inducing for many, but it’s difficult to find anyone truly happy who hasn’t manifested their North Node. Look to the sign and house position of your North Node, as well as any planets conjunct. Planets square your nodes can show what’s holding you back.

Another part of your chart that you can use to your advantage are midpoints. Midpoints are the exact middle of two points and show how those two points come together in harmony. Midpoints are especially helpful when you have planets at a difficult angle, because you can use the midpoint to turn that difficult aspect into something positive. No matter what difficult aspect you have or how many you have, you have a midpoint to help you. Midpoints that have a planet conjunct are especially powerful in your chart, and you should pay close attention to those.
