Full Moons are powerful. It’s undeniable. Everyone can see how differently people behave with their own eyes during a Full Moon. We all become lunatics when Luna is full.
From an astrology perspective, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon are in exact opposite points in the zodiac. The Sun is who you really are, your inner self, and the Moon is your emotional state and how you emotionally react, so with a Full Moon, these two important parts of us are at odds with one another, creating enormous energy that can go one way or the other. Emotions are heightened, and people have a harder time controlling themselves. We’re all howling beasts.
Whenever you read about the Full Moons, you see words like ‘culminations’ and ‘endings’ used. Simply put, with a Full Moon, you get what you give. Everything that you’ve done until that point, you’ll be rewarded for or punished for. Which it is depends on how you’ve been behaving and what kind of decisions you’ve been making. If you’ve earned rewards, you’ll get rewards, and if you’ve earned punishment, punishment is what you’ll get. A Full Moon can be a good indicator of whether or not you’re doing things right.
Which area of life a Full Moon impacts depends on the house it falls in and the aspects it makes to your natal chart. The Full Moons with the biggest impact tend to fall in your first house (the house of self), twelfth house (the house of self-undoing), conjunct your Sun, or conjunct your Moon.
Since the first house rules you, the mantra ‘you get what you give’ applies to not just one area of your life, but your entire life. Anything and everything can be touched. You can realize a great dream or have things fall apart. The highs are high and the lows are low.
With the twelfth house, it’s an emotional house, all about your subconscious, your secrets, your karma, and that which you hide from everyone, maybe even yourself. Makes sense it’s the house of self-undoing, huh? With a Full Moon here, you can either slog through this treachery and release some of the baggage, or get crushed underneath the weight of it. And no matter what, it’s an emotional experience.
When the Full Moon is in the same sign as your Sun or Moon, you’ll be more emotional and intuitive no matter what (so listen to your gut), and can train wreck or come to an incredible realization, make everything worse or make it all better, and you won’t have anywhere to run because it’ll find you wherever you go.
The good news is you know when they’re coming, and by using astrology, you can see exactly where it will impact your life and get an idea of how to utilize the energy in a positive way so you’re not just another lunatic beast howling at the Moon. Though we all need to get in touch with that primitive beast every once in a while, right?
