When you’re comparing your chart with someone you’ve met or are involved with, you usually want to know what the potential is between you for a love connection, and one that will last and be what you hope for. Venus is the planet of love, so she’s the place you want to start. Venus can show your love and attraction to one another, and whether or not you love and want from love the same things.

First, look at the sign and house of your Venus, and the sign and house of theirs. Even if the signs don’t seem compatible, like yours in Aries and theirs in Virgo, you can still have some common ground when you evaluate the houses as well. If your Aries Venus is in the 6th house naturally ruled by Virgo, their Virgo Venus isn’t so foreign to you, and your Aries Venus is toned down enough for them. Obviously, having Venus in the same element is helpful, but you can also get that with the houses. Your fire sign Venus in an earth sign house can mesh with both fire sign and earth sign Venuses. It’s important that you each have an understanding of how the other is in love and what they want from you.

You can also consider the aspects being made by your Venuses in your charts. If your Venus is conjunct Jupiter, and their Venus is conjunct Saturn, you take a lighter, more casual and fun approach to love, while they take things much more seriously and are more commitment-minded. This might not go very well together unless you have a strong Saturn in your chart or they have a strong Jupiter in their chart, so that’s more to consider.

Once you’ve analyzed each Venus on its own, you look at how your Venus interacts with their chart and vice versa. You first look at the house your Venus is located in their chart, and where their Venus is located in your chart. This shows where you bring out the love in one another. Venus in the 1st house makes the love more obvious; in the 5th house, more natural; in the 7th house, more commitment-focused; and in the 8th house, more passionate. None are really better or worse than the other, though in the 11th house, this is often seen as just good friends, and in the 12th house, there can be difficulty being open with your feelings.

Also look at the aspects each of your Venuses make in your charts. When one person’s Venus positively aspects (sextile, trine) Saturn, this can show commitment being an easier transition. A hard aspect with Saturn (conjunction, square, opposition) can still bring commitment, but it can come with obligations, duties, or limitations. Conjunctions, sextiles or trines by Venus to the other person’s Sun or Moon are perhaps the most helpful, and you feel great attraction. It’s also good to see one person’s Venus conjunct the other person’s Jupiter, the happy planet, which creates good feelings.
