Trying to get a new job can be an overwhelming process, even if you hate the job you’re in with a passion and are dying to find something else. Astrologically, there are times that are more auspicious than others for trying to find a new job.
The easiest indicator is Mars. The house that Mars is going through gets a surge of energy brought to it, and you focus more on the areas of life that house rules. If Mars is going through your 2nd house, the house of money, you’re motivated to make more money than you have, and you can look for work that will be an improvement for you financially. If Mars is going through your 10th house of career, you look for work that will put you on the career path you want to be on, and help you achieve your ultimate goals. Mars touring through the 6th house is traditionally the best time to look for a new job though, as the 6th house rules work in general. This is the time when you have more than enough energy and enthusiasm to kick your search up a notch.
If one of the slower planets is going through the 6th house, this can help or hinder your search. Jupiter in the 6th house brings work opportunities to you. Saturn in the 6th house makes it harder to find work, especially if you’re not being responsible, or not doing what you should be doing. Uranus in the 6th house makes work opportunities come about suddenly and unexpectedly, and you usually want to change the work you’re doing, feeling restless. Neptune in the 6th house makes it harder for you to focus on your job search and work in general, though it is good if you work in the arts or with the metaphysical. Pluto in the 6th house makes you want work that puts you in a position of power, and gives you more control.
Complications can arise from a retrograde in the 6th house, especially Mercury. Finding new work is daunting, and you encounter one problem after another. When you do find new work, you probably regret taking the job once the retrograde is over. Retrogrades in the 6th house are good for going back to work for a former employer, or working in a position or doing the type of work you used to do. So if you’re looking for a rewind, the retrogrades can be your friend.
Aspects to the ruler of the 6th house can heat things up. Sextiles and trines will bring you opportunities and make it easier for you to find work. Squares and oppositions will bring internal or external challenges that have to be overcome. Conjunctions by Jupiter help you find opportunities; by Saturn, make you feel like all opportunities have dried up; by Uranus, bring a sudden opportunity; by Neptune, drift your focus elsewhere; and by Pluto, give you a strong will to find a job.
New and full moons or eclipses can also help you with your job search. Look for a new moon, full moon, or eclipse falling in the 2nd, 6th, or 10th houses, or conjunct, sextile, or trine the rulers of these houses.
