Sabian Symbols in Horary Astrology
new technique presentation
I'd like to present you a new technique: the Sabian Symbols of the antiscion degrees, figured out by me, first for use in Horary Astrology, then extended to natal or other branches as well.
I am a Horary fan, it is my favourite technique. Since I came across the Sabian Symbols and acknowledged their power I wanted to have way to merge these two wonderful things. So here it is - it is quite simple:
The Sabian Symbol of the antiscion degree of any cusp using Regiomontanus houses in a horary chart clearly defines what's going on in that house.
You can get a clear answer to the horary chart only by using this. Sometimes it is useful to use in only to have a better understanding of the overall background of the horary chart.
I have used this technique over and over again and convinced myself of its valability in all horary charts. Go over your own archive of horary questions and try it.
Caution: the horary rules are of primary importance - so don't try to apply the Sabian Symbols to any house of the horary chart - check out only those related to the question.
Example: I received today a question stated like this: "Is my husband in love with another woman?". (chart data: Oct 24, 2004, 7:21:37 PM EED, Tirgu Mures, Romania)
You can see the 7th cusp at 27.47 Scorpio, which means that the antiscion degree is 3 Aquarius: A DESERTER FROM THE NAVY.
Here comes the explanation from the marvelous book of Lynda and Richard Hill (The Sabian Symbols as an Oracle):
"You may find that the rigorous restraints and rules of the situation are no longer bearable. A decision to opt out may be moral or to maintain free spirit. There are always consequences for not playing the game. Are you prepared for them? Feeling as though you are being taken away from home and family for a reason you don't really understand and not wanting to accept the pressures."
I have frequently found that explanations given in the Sabian Bible are more explicit than the symbols themselves.
So, this is the husband's situation. Clear, huh ?
One might be interested to find out how the horary charts describes the querent - the woman that asked about her husband - here it is, the Sabian Symbol for the 1st house cusp: A MATURE WOMAN, KEEPING UP WITH THE TIMES, HAVING HER HAIR BOBBED.
"You cannot become different by changing your appearance, although feeling good about one's image does radiate both inwardly and outwardly. An external change may fool others or make you feel better for a time, but it's your inner self that is the essence of your persona, not the mask you wear. Making an effort to keep up with trends. Asserting one's independence from social constraints. If negative - relying on external fashion to disguise inner emptiness."
I use the Sabian Symbols for the 5th house cusp as the best way to act in a certain situation, the symbol for the 9th house cusp as a spiritual perspective on the horary question, the symbol for the 2nd cusp from the quesited house as a future moment in the evolution of the situation and the the symbol for the 4th house as a view on how the matter will end.
You can use this technique in event charts - the symbol for the antiscion degree of the Ascendant will give you a good overall perspective of the chart.
Let's take the example of the bomb of Hiroshima: August 6, 1945, 8:16 AM JST, Hiroshima, Japan. Ascendant at 17.54 Virgo, antiscion degree 13 Aries: A BOMB WHICH FAILED TO EXPLODE IS NOW SAFELY CONCEALED.
Interestingly, the symbols, although specifically spells 'bomb', says that it failed to explode. Nevermind - it said 'bomb', didn't it?
And examples could go on.
