Voyager Spacecrafts
This article was prompted by Elinah's post on the astrology forum on transpersonal planets. She said: The Voyager spacecrafts were our first bridge attempt into the greater consciousness of the galaxy. We will never see what will transpire when they first make contact with other consciousness (if the Oort Cloud doesn't get them first). Yet, through the Voyagers, we have expanded our consciousness, first at an unconscious level and gradually to a more conscious level.
Voyager 2 was launched on August 20, 1977, at 10:20 am EDT, from Cape Canaveral, FL. Voyager 1's launch followed on September 5, 1977, at 8:56 am EDT, from the same location.
Here is the astrological chart for the launch of Voyager 2 on August 20:
Voyager 2, the first of the two spacecrafts, was launched one hour after Jupiter entered Cancer, its exaltation sign. Its exact position was 00°00´45´´ in Cancer. Jupiter spends about one year in each zodiacal sign, so this coincidence is quite interesting, as Jupiter rules the long voyages and its position in this chart in the 9th house describes perfectly this venture, that has surpassed everyone's expectations. The Voyager spacecrafts were expected to be used only for about 5 years and yet, 28 years have passed and they're still sending back different information. That's what a planet in its exaltation sign is about: it has more to offer than it is usually expected.
Pluto rising in both charts tells about going into deep outer space, the so-far unexplored realms of our solar system and beyond.
Now, have a look at the second launching chart, of Voyager 1, on September 5:
In both charts, the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are below the horizon, while the personal planets are all located above it. This indicates that up to that moment, these outer planest were little known to humankind and as the two spacecrafts sent scientific data and took close pictures of these planets, it increased people's awareness to them. Quality close-up color pictures of Jupiter to Neptune are readily available in magazines and on the internet, so this only might have increased the sensitivity to the subtle influence of these planets; think at people who hang on walls pictures of spiritual leaders or saints, or read their books, just to stay in touch with their spiritual energy or information; it's quite similar.
Pluto was not visited by either of the two spacecrafts: Voyager 1 flew by Jupiter and Saturn, while Voyager 2 flew by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. This was because Pluto's orbit is not in the same plane as the other planets. It might mean that Pluto's influence and values are yet to be discovered and assimilated.
In the last two years, Voyager 1, passed through the so-called termination shock reaching the solar system's final frontier, a vast expanse where wind from the Sun blows hot against thin gas between the stars: interstellar space. Scientists are already receiving data from Voyager 1, helping them understand what's happening out there, very, very far from our Sun. This coincides in astrology with 2006-2008 Pluto transit over the Gallactic Center (currently at 26Sag56), a point that represents the centre of gravity of our Milky Way Galaxy; the Sun and stars in the Milky Way galaxy all revolve around this point.
